Formation of a New World Order: Place and Role of Central Asia in a Multipolar World
Kazakhstan

RLS Representative Office in Central Asia
The world today is in the process of transforming the system of international relations. Emerging regional conflicts have the potential to transcend regional boundaries and have a significant impact on global peace and security. A new multipolar world order is emerging under conditions of uncertainty and turbulence. In this context, the geopolitical importance of Central Asian countries for global and regional actors is changing. Transport and logistics corridors passing through Central Asia are being restructured. Attempts are being made to influence Central Asian countries to take a clearer position on a particular conflict. Contacts between individual countries in the region and international actors are intensifying, as is Central Asia's interaction with extra-regional partners in the "5+1" format (e.g. in 2023, summits of Central Asian countries with Russia, the United States, China and the EU in the "5+1" format).

The Representative Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Central Asia has organised an expert seminar "Formation of a New World Order: Place and Role of Central Asia in a Multipolar World" in order to initiate a critical reflection on the role and place of Central Asian countries and the region as a whole in the emerging multipolar world. International relations and security experts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed how Central Asian countries are positioning themselves in the new reality, and what opportunities and potential exist for Central Asian countries and the region as a whole to advance their own agendas. The project will result in the publication of a collection of articles on the subject.
