The 4th meeting of the discussion club "RLS Central Asia" on the topic: "The impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the countries of Central Asia" was held on August 10, 2022.
The growing international tension, mainly related to the war in Ukraine, and as a consequence - the sanctions policy against Russia, has a serious impact on the states of Central Asia. How does the dramatically changed international situation affect the Central Asian states? Is this impact only negative, or are new opportunities and development prospects being created for the countries of the region? Can Central Asia become a significant actor for sustainable development in the current crisis? Does the current situation have integrative potential for the countries of Central Asia? These and other questions were considered on the examples of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
Keynote speakers at the fourth session were: Rasul Rysmambetov (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Nargiza Muratalieva (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), Mirzokhid Rakhimov (Tashkent, Uzbekistan).
The Discussion Club "RLS Central Asia" was established by the Representative Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Central Asia in 2020 to promote the values of a just and solidarity society based on respect for human rights through public dialog and critical analysis of current development issues in Central Asian countries.
