The project was a logical conclusion of the RLS supported training component (workshops, trainings, and master-classes) implemented by the PF “Public Health and Human Rights” in 2020 online and was aimed to developing of the Art Exhibition conception, carrying out an exhibition of art objects created by the project participants as well as development an Art Exhibition Booklet.
Overall objective
The project aims at disseminating the ideas of gender equality, tolerance, non-discrimination by introducing and using art activism as an instrument of raising visibility of social problems in Tajikistan through creation of art products by the project participants and organizing an Art Exhibition.
Project objectives:
  • Organizing an Art Camp to finalize art objects created by project participants during the first project phase in 2020 and develop the concept of an Art Exhibition;
  • Conducting an Art Exhibition to present art products resulting from the Art Activism Camp;
  • Development and promotion an Art Exhibition Booklet of art works of the project participants.
Project development logic and outcomes
The project implementation consisted of two components: educational and creative. At the first stage (August-December 2020), twenty participants from among art activists, designers, artists and other creators selected on a competitive basis were trained within the first School of the Art Activism in Tajikistan. They went through a series of workshops and trainings on human rights, gender equality, stigma and discrimination, tolerance, intersection theory and etc.

Then they had generated ideas and concepts of art objects for the Art Exhibition. In June 2021, in the framework of a two-day Art Camp the participants presented their art works and developed the conception of the Art Exhibition titled “Choice”.

The Art Exhibition held in August 2021, where 25 art products (installations, paintings, photos, video clips, performance and sculptures) were presented as well as an Art Exhibition Booklet "Choice", including pictures of all art objects and their description was published.
