Position: SMM Consultant

Organization: Regional Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in Central Asia (RLS CA)

Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan (hybrid role with occasional office work)

Employment Period: February 1 – December 31, 2025

Position Overview

The Public Relations/Social Media Consultant will support the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung team in engaging online audiences—project partners and beneficiaries—by creating compelling digital content for our social media platforms. The consultant will adapt the existing social media and communications strategy to reflect evolving trends, expand the Foundation’s online presence across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and assist the team in conducting creative social media campaigns. Tasks will include regular content creation, facilitation of online broadcasts on the Foundation's social media, occasional office duties, and media support for offline events in Almaty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Design, implement, manage, and monitor an SMM strategy tailored for the Central Asian and German audiences on the website rosalux-ca.org.
  • Content Management: Plan, create, oversee, publish, and distribute engaging content (original copy, images, or video) as per RLS CA team requirements.
  • Online Broadcast Management: Facilitate live online streams of Foundation events on social media platforms.
  • Public Relations: Develop, initiate, and oversee targeted advertising (ad targeting) on all RLS CA social media platforms.
  • Performance Tracking: Analyze and create concise reports based on established metrics, assessing the effectiveness and reach of our digital activities (as requested).
  • Reporting Support: Collaborate with project managers to enhance final project outputs through the creation of clear and engaging digital content.
  • Miscellaneous: Perform other tasks as required by the organization's leadership.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, media, or a related field (social sciences/humanities).

Work Experience:

  • Proven expertise in social media marketing and public relations.
  • Ability to process, assimilate, and adapt complex research and socio-political information into engaging, creative content for social media.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software and digital content creation/management tools such as Canva, CapCut, Tilda, etc. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is an advantage.
  • Thorough understanding of algorithms on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Russian and English; working knowledge of Kazakh is preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

Work Schedule

The workload will be calculated individually based on timesheets and the needs of RLS CA, according to your hourly rate.
